Celtic defender Alexandro Bernabei has been charged by the police with a ‘traffic offence’ in the early hours of Monday.
The 21-year-old Argentine moved to Scottish champions Lanus this summer for a fee of £3.75m on a five-year deal.
However, to make a competitive appearance for the Parkhead side, the left-back was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 5-0 win over Kilmarnock.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “On Monday 15th August 2022, a 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with a traffic offense which took place in Glasgow city centre. He has been released with a commitment to appear in court at a later date.
Bernabei was one of several permanent signings made this summer as competition for Scotland international Greg Taylor.

Bernabei became the first Argentine to join the Scottish team earlier this summer and was expected to eventually replace Taylor in the long term.
“I am very happy to be here and grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity,” he told Celtic TV after joining.
‘I am proud to play in Europe because it was one of my dreams and I am excited to train and play with my new teammates.
The Argentine defender signed a five-year contract with the Scottish team earlier this summer.
‘The stadium is just amazing. The people, the club, the teammates and the coaching staff are incredible.
I am very excited and happy and I can’t wait to play in the Champions League. I hear people are crazy so I can’t wait to feel that feeling and excitement at Celtic Park.’
Bernabei was one of several signings this summer, as boss Ange Postecoglou also snapped up the likes of Aaron Mooy, Benji Siegrist and Moritz Jenz.
He also completed permanent deals for Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda this summer.
