Missing nurse Owami Davies may be taking trains in a ‘confused’ state, police say | uk news

A nurse who disappeared six weeks ago may still be traveling frequently by train around London, appearing dazed and confused, police said.

Concerns are growing for the safety of Owami Davies, 24, from Grays, Essex, who has not been seen since just after midnight on July 7, walking along London Road in Croydon.

More than a month after her disappearance, the Metropolitan Police said they believed she might still be “in the local area and in need of help” and urged anyone with information about her to come forward.

The British Transport Police (BTP) made a new call on twittersaying that Davies may still be using trains.

They said she may appear dazed or confused and try to talk to other women traveling alone.

BTP tweeted: “We are aware that Owami Davies, 24, regularly uses the train and tube network to travel from Grays, Essex to the Croydon area. Often via West Ham and West Croydon stations. metpoliceuk is looking for dates from July 7, 2022 onwards.

“Owami may still be regularly traveling by train in a vulnerable state, appearing dazed or confused and possibly seeking to mingle with other solo female travelers.

“If you know where Owami is, call the police.”

In a statement, the Met said: “Owami has been depressed and, in the absence of her medication, is able to use alcohol to ease her depression.”

There have been a number of potential sightings of Davies in the Croydon area since her disappearance and police have been examining CCTV to try to verify if the sightings were indeed her.

The Met has made a number of appeals for information. The force’s Specialized Crime Command is leading the investigation and is supported by the National Crime Agency.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the investigation and have been released on bail.

Det Ch Insp Nigel Penney, who is leading the investigation, said: “The search to find Owami Davies continues and we are conducting extensive searches, appeals and CCTV investigations to track and find her.

“I would remind people that even though crime detectives are investigating, this is still a missing person investigation.”

She said that Davies, or anyone who might be helping her, was not in trouble. The researchers have downloaded about 50,000 hours of CCTV and have managed to view about 10,000 hours so far.
